Castleberry Hill is a neighborhood located in downtown Atlanta. It is immediately south of Mercedes-Benz Stadium, east of the Atlanta University Center (where Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Clark Atlanta University are located), southeast of Vine City, and southwest of Centennial Olympic Park and Five Points.

How do you get to Castleberry Hill?

Castleberry Hill is accessible by car and MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) rail and bus lines.

By car: If you are taking surface streets, Castleberry Hill can be found right off of Northside Drive from the north and Metropolitan Parkway from the south. Castleberry Hill is also located north of I-20.

By MARTA Rail: MARTA rail lines will get you to Castleberry Hill, with some walking. If you exit Garnett Station from the Red/Gold Lines, walk around 11 minutes to get to Castleberry Hill. Exiting from Vine City Station or the GWCC/CNN Stations from the Blue/Green Lines will get you to Castleberry Hill roughly within 15 minutes by foot, and the same goes for exiting directly from Five Points Station.

By MARTA Bus: Buses 3, 94 and 813 serve Castleberry Hill.

Where can I eat and drink in Castleberry Hill?

Atlantucky Brewing

As the name would suggest, Atlantucky Brewing is inspired by the best of Atlanta and Kentucky and is one of the city’s few Black-owned breweries. Sit back, relax and enjoy house beers on tap such as ATLKY Mud (imperial stout) and Ale Ale Cool J (double IPA).

Black Coffee ATL

This Castleberry Hill coffee shop serves up “coffee with a shot of culture.” Black Coffee ATL has seasonal rotating menus, and the current Winter Menu offers drinks such as Saltbae Latte, Lavender & Chill Latte, Suit & Tie Macchiato and Portuguese in Love Latte. They also serve breakfast sandwiches including a Bodega Sammich, Green Toast and salmon with cream cheese on an everything bagel (called “You Fancy Huh?”).

Brooklyn Tea

Hailing originally from Brooklyn, this tea shop in Castleberry Hill brews black, green, white, oolong, herbal and various other teas, as well as select coffees. They also serve vegan waffles and English muffin breakfast sandwiches all day, as well as bagels, croissants, muffins and other pastries.

An iconic Atlanta restaurant that dates back to 1947 and is known for being the meeting place of some of the world’s most renowned figures, including Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Andrew Young and Aretha Franklin, Paschal’s was “reinvented” in 2002 by James Paschal, one of the original founders, and Herman J. Russell, the influential Black Atlanta businessman, to create a modernized version of the restaurant in Castleberry Hill.
